Italy was a haven for interesting fonts; many look like they are straight out of the 70's and my hunch is that filmmaker Wes Anderson has been inspired by them as well (Italian imagery in general I think). the classic go-to seems to be the one that is used in the 'biglietteria' image - you see this on many of the street signs and at all of the train stations- i love it. this is a round up of some of my favourites from in and around Rome & Tuscany.

language love.
not only do the inuit have many words for snow, they also have a word to describe 'the feeling of anticipation that leads you to keep looking outside to see if anyone is coming'. this and other very specific nuances in our daily lives are expressed in foreign languages by a single word, with no english equivalent. a special few have been illustrated and shared on the huffington post and i am smitten.

take 2.
so, i woke up this morning and had a facial...it felt amazing, necessary and a little bit indulgent. when i came out of my appointment and got in my car to leave, i noticed someone pull up behind me ready to take my spot. in a split second decision (that of course felt like an eternity when i look back on it now), i got out of the car to hand the woman the rest of my parking ticket that had 30 minutes left on it. i didn't realise my car (no, my boyfriend's beautiful 2012 golf) was in reverse...it slowwwwwllllllyyyyyy began rolling backwards towards the car parked behind it. i had to jump in and pull the emergency break. it was so overwhelming and horrible and scary. i think i hurt my leg in the process having to jump into a moving car. luckily, nothing happened to the other car, but his car has a small dent in the back end. errrrrrrr! i felt like screaming!
i don't get it universe? i was doing something GOOD and this happens. :::::deep breath:::::
in the wise words of blogger justina blakeney's mom, 'it's never too late in the day to start your day over'. so, that, is precisely what i am doing. starting over, with a warm bath.

ms. chatelaine, february 2013.
thank you so much to Chatelaine Magazine (one of Canada's oldest and most beloved monthly publications) for including me in their february issue as this month's Ms. Chatelaine- wow! the biggest thank yous go out to writer, Jenn Smith Nelson, who penned this beautiful article on ME (lucky me! i especially love how she could see from across the sea, how my love of travel (& coming home) colours everything i do) and to photographer Jeremy Greive for taking such beautiful photos of my home. i am so over the moon to be a part of such a strong piece of canadian heritage; this is just so wonderful! merci beaucoup xo
