lust list: Lena Dunham & Missoni for Target.

Hero to all GIRLS- Lena Dunham- has written a book (and was given a 3.7 million dollar advance to do so...just quietly...).  Alexa Chung's book I was happy to flick through at the shop, but this I want to READ!

Also, I'm not even sure how to contain myself over the anticipation of the Missoni for Target collection coming to Australia- Ladies, please, please save something for me!!

the day of discovery.

i learned today that i was born on the day of discovery and found this quite fitting. i am a student for life and a constant explorer, curious and adventurous. check out what your birthday means based on 'a distillation of personality trait commonalities found in a 40-year study of the biographies of more than 20,000 people, organized by date of birth'.

quote of the day:

“Well, I always know what I want. And when you know what you want--you go toward it. Sometimes you go very fast, and sometimes only an inch a year. Perhaps you feel happier when you go fast. I don't know. I've forgotten the difference long ago, because it really doesn't matter, so long as you move.” | We the Living

lulu.

something that i have been anxiously awaiting has just arrived in the mail for me this morning- the book lulu, by: lulu de kwiatkowski.
it has been on my wishlist for the last couple of years, but has always been out of my price range. i found it second hand, but in perfect condition for a whopping fraction of the original price on abe books. what an amazing site, specialising in rare & out of print books, while selling new and second hand editions as well. music to my ears.
this book is probably the most beautiful of any i have ever owned. it is brimming with intricate, nostalgic colour collages and is non-stop awe-inspiring. i cannot wait to spend some quality time within its pages.

a shibori book!

my lovely friends and the lovely ladies behind the incredible hand-dyeing textile company shibori have a book coming out on April 30th!!! how exciting!! it is called Shibori Recreated and documents the ancient japanese tradition in the 21st century. the book features the likes of Akira Isogawa, India Flint, Donna Karan, Bre from Scout and Catalogue and many other unique artisans. you know it's gonna' be a goodie when the beautiful book making and stylist queen with the keen eye herself- Sibella Court- is doing the foreword. oooh!  i am so looking forward to this! and look (below)...it's already been reviewed in adore home magazine.

until the release i'm going to be doing plenty more shibori-ing myself- yippee! i'm actually out the door right now to the shibori HQ ;) starting next week :)

back to basics.

it's been taking me weeeekkkksss to get through books lately. i'd like to make a point to be on the internet less in my everyday. it certainly is a distraction. this week i'll try more page flipping, less screen scrolling. i've got a lot of books i'd like to get through this summer/winter.

she's with the band.

hello all, i've been meaning to tell you for a long time now that if you want to know me at all, you'll need to know of my longtime intrigue/love for the groupie! i have read all the bios (patti boyd (meh...), marianne faithful (a goodie!), carol ann harris (not a groupie i know, but same sort of thing. you get juicy behind the scenes band tidbits while living your high school dream of a rockstar being all gushy over you through her stories), to name a few...). the absolute best of the best is Pamela Des Barres. not only does she have a past as probably the most famous groupie ever (think penny lane in Almost Famous), she is an incredible writer. her book I'm With The Band is my favourite book of all time! i've read Take Another Little Piece of My Heart and it made me super happy too. she has such a way with words; it's as if she is capable of putting to paper all of those silly thoughts we all have but can never really explain out loud. there is also an innocence that comes through in her writing that is charming and captivating. i do love Miss Pamela. i'm just waiting for the day that i can join in one of her writing workshops (please, oh please come to sydney!).

THE book, i love it
