so long sweet summer.

i thought it would fun to team up with my little sister, who is a talented digital/motion graphic designer to put a little spin on a couple of photos from my floral crown series. she played with the marigold crown and image, while i added the text. summer is definitely on its way out down under, so here is one version of our mini collaboration to brighten up the day.

all in the family; homestead.

my uncle grew up in a beautiful old wooden farm house in the middle of the saskatchewan prairies. there was no indoor heating and he said he would sometimes wake up with frost on his face in the morning. one day, his father moved the family to a new home just a couple of kilometres away. they left most of their large possessions behind; mattresses, curtains, a sewing machine and organ are all exactly where they left them. my uncle still lives in the family house they moved into now, with my aunt and two cousins. they took me to see the old place while i was home this winter; where pigeons have now made their home in this dilapidated nest, there is no glass on any of the windows and everything was covered in snow. this was pure magic, you can't make a story like this up.

home is where your mom is. 1.

i have shared my parents' house with you herehere here from my humble home series - the reason why i started this blog. it was so wonderful to spend such a perfect amount of time (i left when i was still wishing to stay longer; i think it's good to go out on top) at the home i know so well. it's also kind of special to have been able to document it in an extreme of seasons to last time, as well as all of the changes it has gone through; walls have been painted, rugs have been re-shuffled, objects have moved and most importantly, the kitchen and dining room have been entirely re-done. oh, and i will have to admit it as it's very obvious - my photography skills and this blog on the whole have come a loooonnnnggg way. welcome all, to where my heart is:
