I heart Nice.

Nice was more than nice.  It took me a couple of visits to get into its groove, but when I did - it was L O V E.  I found it a bit hard to figure out at first; it seems really ritzy and grand, but I was looking for a bit of soul. That is what I stumbled upon along the Cours Saleya on a Monday- the antiques market of Nice- ooh la la. If you're into treasure hunting, you could spend all day at these...I wish I had!  Bascially anything you could ever imagine to find, you will probably come across at these vast markets. The worst part is that most of the objects I wanted were large furniture items, which you have to just admire and not take home. The best part about these markets stalls

I heart the South of France - from Eze to Monaco.

I know what people mean when they refer to 'The South of France'; it's more than a beautiful place, it's a feeling.  I fell in love with this land of the purple bougainvillea in a heart beat.  The water is so crystal clear blue and at the end of May when we went, it was perfectly crisp.  We stayed in Eze bord du mer, but you could stay in any number of spots along the coast and be happy...overjoyed, even.  Stay in a place up in the hills if you can, so you can have that quiet away from the beach and get the best that this place has to offer.  You'll need to rent a car, which is quite expensive, but worth it; we went with Hertz from the Nice airport.  Go to Eden at Plage Mala to treat yourself for the day on a sun bed with ice cold rosé- I didn't even like rosé until this trip, but in this region of France it is magnifique!

lust list: Lena Dunham & Missoni for Target.

Hero to all GIRLS- Lena Dunham- has written a book (and was given a 3.7 million dollar advance to do so...just quietly...).  Alexa Chung's book I was happy to flick through at the shop, but this I want to READ!  

Also, I'm not even sure how to contain myself over the anticipation of the Missoni for Target collection coming to Australia- Ladies, please, please save something for me!!

Search For A Stylist contest.

well, the cat is out of the bag- I was announced last week as the WINNER of Inside Out magazine & The Home's Search For A Stylist contest!!!!  Lucky me!!  As the winner I get a job as Head Stylist at The Home, to style a real cover of Inside Out and $1000 dollars to spend at The Home, which I intend to entirely put towards french linen!!! I was very unsure when I first heard about this whole thing (I think it was shock...), but I made it through my first week of work and it was w o n d e r f u l. such a lovely team and so many creative ideas being pitched and produced on a constant basis- I am over the moon, truly. I will be sure to share some of my favourite projects on here with you all; stay tuned.

location scouting: Sydney's beaches.

yesterday, on what was a very brisk, but beautiful and sunny winter's day in Sydney, we went on a little trip around Sydney's Eastern Suburbs beaches to check out venues for a very special future project. i loved aspects of everywhere we visited, the more quaint in details, the better. the hands down, shiver inducing, showstopper for me was

my best friend's wedding; Tuscany.

one of my best friend's got engaged and then turned this super special, romantic Tuscan wedding around in less than 3 months! we had to take a funicular (so The Grand Budapest Hotel) up to Certaldo Alto an old medieval walled village just above Certaldo, near San Gimignano in Tuscany, Italy for the ceremony. the setting really could not have been more magical if you had 3 years to plan your wedding! highlights for me were seeing and laughing with old friends, learning how to make ravioli and tiramisu (which we made for the wedding dinner) and my stone fox bestie serenading her new husband on the ukelele at the end of the night- i sobbed! do only fools rush in? for a girl who only knew that she wanted purple hydrangeas, she came up with one pretty party- you have GOT to check out the photos to believe it. i promise, you won't help falling in love...

SEARCH FOR A STYLIST contest!

i am lucky enough to be a part of the Inside Out magazine SEARCH FOR A STYLIST contest, featuring all products from The Home (click through for a peek behind the scenes). we were given a very open brief to put together a vignette showcasing our style for a mock-up of an Inside Out cover; i obviously chose a very tight option- the intimate shots are my favourite. i also made some little cutie cacti out of wire and wool especially for the shoot- what do you think? please click through or search www.searchforastylist.com.au and VOTE FOR ME! i could win a full time job and the chance to style a real cover (as much as i love freelance, i just got back from Europe and a full time gig sounds really good right about now...). thanks so much for your support!!! i will be sure to keep you posted and remind you to vote if you haven't- voting closes June 23rd, 2014.

i heart Tuscany.

we went to my best friend's wedding in Tuscany and the event could not have been in a more magical place- most of these photos are from in and around an old medieval village called Certaldo/Certaldo Alto. to get to the nuptials, we had to take a funicular- the Wes Anderson nuances were everywhere! be sure to click through for more beauties: 

i heart Rome.

we did a pretty great job of Rome in half a day, conquered it you might say. my favourite parts were the Pantheon and all of the amazing plants growing crazy everywhere. there will be a separate post dedicated just to the window boxes, i'm sure.
