weekend project: gift wrapping with ephemera.

i was invited to join this board on pinterest and thought what better what to re-introduce the weekend project post to the blog. i only used what i had around the house, starting with cutting up an old paper bag for the brown paper packaging-so simple. then i gathered bits of ephemera i have collected and had at home. i got these results by

stumbled upon: Seth Smoot.

the lovely, painterly quality of photographer Seth Smoot's images. i discovered him yesterday while trawling through pinterest.

i know it's uncommon, but blue is not one of my favourite colours. it's not that i don't like it, but i didn't grow up with it in my house and i'm often drawn to more citrusy colours like orange & yellow or every shade of green. i even love indigo, but this past week, bright azure goodness has been all over my pinterest page.  i can't tell whether it's me noticing it more or whether it's a new trend in fashion and interiors...but i like it! do i want to paint my kitchen that same punchy hue? yes, i do!

words for the day:

the making of my dream home: kitchen.

next up is the dream home kitchen. it will have an old wood burning stove, pops of colour, great floors, pots that hang from the ceiling, a beautiful sink area and tiles for sure. thank you, pinterest.

the making of my dream home: bedroom.

apparently my dream bedroom has a canopy bed?! i'm also leaning towards wood panelled walls, a kooky bed frame, twinkly lights and lush linens in my signature all white look or maybe i venture into the land of colour. bunk beds could be really fun in the guest room or the kid's bedroom. i'm also not sure why i haven't purchased a hudson bay blanket yet from my home and native land (canada), as i'm always drawn to them on pinterest. et voilà - my dream home; the bedroom edition.

the making of my dream home: windows.

my dream home, built by pinterest will have big, beautiful windows, streaming in lots of light. some will be warehouse style floor to ceiling and some might be circular skylights. there will definitely be a place to cuddle up next to a gorgeous view and the facade will be all shutters and flower boxes galore.

daydreaming of: the south of france.

we are headed to le Côte d'Azur in may…

the making of my dream home: fireplace.

moving on to the interior of my dream home, built by pinterest; she will need a fireplace or preferably two. the more mantles to dress the merrier! i've always dreamt of having one in the bedroom. how cozy would that be and so old-fashioned too.

the making of my dream home: outside.

next, to add some important outdoor features to my pinterest dream home. this place would need plenty of outdoor plants, a rooftop garden depending on where it is, outdoor lounging and dining area for al fresco dinners, a fire pit, definitely an outdoor shower and bath and maybe a pool. ooh, so dreamy.
